PDFre Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how PDFre processes information in connection with browser-based PDF tools. The service is designed so that, for ordinary use cases, core processing remains local where that is technically feasible and appropriate, while website technical and analytics data is processed only to the extent reasonably necessary to operate, improve, and protect the product.

Who operates the service

PDFre is created and maintained by Sergey Solod. For privacy, data protection, or policy-related inquiries, you may contact sergeissolod@gmail.com.

This Privacy Policy applies to the PDFre website, its tool pages, related guides, feedback flows, and other interactions connected with the service.

How PDFre works

PDFre is a focused browser-based toolkit for practical PDF work, including merging, splitting, extracting pages, deleting pages, duplicating pages, reordering pages, rotating pages, converting pages to images, adding page numbers and watermarks, editing metadata, and applying or removing password protection.

The ordinary workflow for published tools is designed so that document processing takes place directly in the user's browser where that is technically feasible and candidly supportable.

That approach reduces the need to send document contents into a remote processing flow merely to complete an ordinary PDF task. It does not, however, eliminate the processing of certain technical website data, nor does it remove the practical limits imposed by the browser, the device, or the structure of a particular file.

Information that may be processed

We may process technical information reasonably necessary to display, secure, and maintain the website, including IP address, browser information, device information, operating system information, visited page addresses, date and time of access, referring source, performance data, and similar request metadata.

We may process information about interactions with the website and its tools where reasonably necessary for analytics, error diagnosis, abuse prevention, and product improvement.

If a user contacts us, we may process the email address, the contents of the message, and any other context voluntarily included in the communication.

Your PDF files and local processing

For ordinary published use cases, PDFre is designed to keep core PDF work on the user's side in the browser. In other words, a document may be processed locally within the device environment without making remote processing of the file contents a mandatory part of the ordinary workflow.

Temporary file data may nevertheless exist in browser memory, temporary browser-managed mechanisms, or in resulting files deliberately saved by the user to the user's own device.

The privacy of such local processing depends not only on PDFre, but also on the user's device, browser, browser extensions, system configuration, antivirus software, and overall execution environment.

If a user copies, exports, transmits, or otherwise moves a document outside the browser workspace, the privacy and security of that file thereafter depend on the chosen storage, transfer, and downstream handling arrangements.

Cookies, browser storage, and analytics

PDFre may use cookies, browser storage, and similar client-side technologies for ordinary website operation, language selection, technical preferences, and limited product state.

PDFre may also use Yandex Metrica to understand traffic patterns, page usage, user behavior, tool demand, site stability, and opportunities to improve the product. Yandex Metrica and similar analytics tools may use cookies, identifiers, or comparable mechanisms.

We do not intentionally seek to transmit PDF contents, passwords, confidential documents, payment information, access keys, or other sensitive information to analytics systems.

Where applicable law requires prior consent for non-essential analytics technologies, such technologies should be activated only after the required consent has been obtained.

Purposes of processing

Information may be used to display and support the website, enable the tools, diagnose technical issues, prevent misuse, improve the interface, and maintain product quality.

We may also use information to respond to user communications, correct errors, refine on-page explanations, and improve the clarity of product workflows.

Where necessary, information may also be used to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, and protect rights, safety, and legitimate interests.

Sharing of information

We may disclose limited information to providers of technical infrastructure, hosting, content delivery, analytics, email, and security services to the extent reasonably necessary to operate, support, analyze, and protect PDFre.

We may also disclose information where disclosure is required by law, regulation, court order, lawful request by a competent authority, or where such disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, legitimate interests, or the integrity of the service.

We do not sell users' personal data as a standalone product.

Retention

We seek to retain information no longer than is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including website operation, security, analytics, diagnostics, correspondence, and legal compliance.

User emails and related communications may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, continue correspondence, resolve a dispute, or preserve a reasonable history of the interaction.

Local data stored by the browser on the user's device remains under the user's control until the user deletes it, clears the browser, or changes the relevant settings.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect the website and related data. However, no method of transmission, storage, or technical operation can be guaranteed to be absolutely secure.

Please do not send passwords, payment information, confidential document contents, access credentials, internal corporate materials, or other sensitive information by email or through website forms unless a specifically designated secure channel has been provided for that purpose.

User rights

Depending on applicable law, users may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection to processing, data portability, and withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent.

For privacy-related requests or data protection inquiries, you may write to sergeissolod@gmail.com. Where appropriate, we may request reasonable identity verification and sufficient context to process the request.

Changes to this Policy

PDFre may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the product, infrastructure, analytics configuration, legal requirements, or operational workflows evolve.

The version published on this page is the current version. Continued use of the website after an updated version is published constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Common questions

Does PDFre send my PDF files to a server during ordinary use?

For ordinary published use cases, the service is designed around browser-side local processing where that is technically feasible and appropriate. The website may still require technical data for page delivery, analytics, protection, and support.

Does PDFre store the contents of my documents?

The ordinary product workflow is designed so that remote storage of document contents is not a mandatory part of a standard PDF task. Even so, the overall privacy outcome still depends on your device, browser, and what happens after you export or share a file.

What should I do before sending or using a processed PDF?

Before any business, legal, archival, or otherwise important use, you should review the resulting file yourself and confirm the correctness of the pages, content, metadata, password settings, and overall export quality.
